En Pointe Readiness Screen
Is your daughter dreaming of going en pointe?
Dance teachers and medical professionals agree that waiting until she is at least eleven years old- & preferably 12 or 13- is important for injury prevention. In fact, as of 2018 the Youth American Grand Prix no longer allows a dancer to compete en pointe until she is eleven years old.
In addition to age, technique, teacher recommendation, ankle/knee/hip/back stability, and progressive training are essential for injury prevention.
Is your dancer interested, but you aren’t sure that she is ready? Core Dynamics PT and Wellness offers an En Pointe Readiness screen based on recommendations from the Harkness Center for Dance Injuries at NYU Langone Health.
